English Literature

Newcastle University's three-year full-time English literature programme is enriched by a sandwich year in industry, a year abroad and an embedded work placement, making it an unusually well-rounded degree. The academic content covers poetry, fiction and drama from across the literary tradition, and you will develop the ability to read closely, to situate texts within their cultural and historical contexts and to write with clarity and analytical precision.
