Environmental Geography
Environmental geography is the study of the interactions between human societies and the natural world, investigating how physical processes shape the environments people live in and how human activity alters those same processes. It is a discipline that sits between the natural and social sciences, drawing on ecology, climatology, hydrology, geomorphology, and social and political analysis to understand complex environmental issues and the governance challenges they create. At Liverpool Hope this four-year full-time programme begins with a foundation year that provides a supported transition into university-level study, developing academic writing, critical thinking, and independent learning skills alongside introduction to the core themes of the degree. You will then engage with the full range of environmental geography, developing both the physical science and the social science perspectives needed to understand environmental change and policy. The programme includes a sandwich year giving you substantial professional experience, a year abroad to broaden your geographical perspective, and work placement opportunities throughout.
