Environmental Geoscience
Environmental geoscience applies the tools of geology, geophysics, and physical geography to the understanding of environmental systems and the challenges arising from human interaction with the Earth. The discipline examines how soils, water, landforms, and geological materials behave under natural and anthropogenic pressures, and it provides the scientific foundation for environmental assessment, land management, contamination remediation, natural hazard evaluation, and resource management. At the University of Liverpool, this three-year, full-time programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement experience, all of which give it a strong professional and international character alongside the academic content. You will develop quantitative skills in geological mapping, soil and water analysis, remote sensing and GIS, and environmental modelling, alongside a solid grounding in earth processes, stratigraphy, and the geochemical and geophysical methods used to characterise and monitor environmental systems.
