Environmental Management
Environmental management is the applied science of understanding, protecting, and improving the natural and built environments in the context of increasing human pressure. It draws on ecology, geography, planning, law, and business to address questions that are among the most urgent of our time: how do we reduce the environmental impact of economic activity, manage land and water sustainably, respond to climate change, and design systems that allow communities to flourish without degrading the resources they depend on? At Salford, this three-year full-time degree is designed to open up careers in sustainable and natural resource management, development, and planning. You will study the science underlying environmental challenges alongside the policy and management frameworks used to address them, learning to assess environmental impact, interpret data, and communicate findings to a range of audiences. The course includes a sandwich year, allowing you to spend a full year in a professional placement and apply your skills in a real working context before completing your final year of study.
