Equine Management

Equine management brings together the science of the horse with the principles of business and land management to prepare graduates for careers in one of the UK's most distinctive rural industries. The equine sector spans sport and competition, breeding, welfare organisations, leisure riding, racing, and equine-assisted therapy, and it operates within a demanding commercial environment that requires people who understand horses deeply as well as the businesses built around them.

At the Royal Agricultural University, which has a long tradition of land-based and rural business education, this two-year full-time programme gives you a grounded education in equine science alongside practical management skills. You will study equine anatomy and physiology, health and nutrition, breeding and reproduction, behaviour and training, and stable management, alongside business management, financial principles, and the legal and welfare frameworks governing the equine industry. The Royal Agricultural University's rural campus and strong industry connections provide a context for learning that is practical as well as academic.

The accelerated two-year format means you move through the material at pace and enter the professional world sooner. The combination of scientific knowledge and management skills is relatively rare in the equine sector, which means graduates are well positioned for roles that require both.

Graduates go on to careers in yard and stud management, equine business development, event organisation, welfare and conservation roles, equine insurance, and related fields.
