Event Management

Event management is the professional discipline of planning, organising, and delivering events of all kinds, from conferences and festivals to corporate gatherings, sports competitions, and cultural celebrations. It requires a combination of project management rigour, creative problem-solving, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate large and complex operations across multiple suppliers, venues, and stakeholder groups under time pressure. At the University of Derby, this three-year full-time BA (Hons) is designed to give you the management and operational skills needed to succeed in the sector, alongside a foundation year for those who want to build their academic foundations first. The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you an unusually comprehensive set of structured professional experiences during the degree itself.
