About this course

Fashion design technology for womenswear is a discipline that sits at the intersection of creative design, technical garment construction, and the commercial realities of the fashion industry. Designing clothing is not simply an artistic act: it requires understanding how fabric behaves, how garments are constructed to fit and move with the body, how collections are developed from concept to production, and how design decisions translate into manufacturable, commercially viable products. The womenswear specialisation focuses specifically on the history, culture, aesthetics, and technical demands of designing for women, one of the most creative and competitive areas of fashion.

At University of the Arts London, this three-year full-time programme is taught at one of the world's most prestigious institutions for art and design education, in a city that remains one of the global centres of fashion.
