Finance, investment, and risk sits at the core of how capital markets function and how organisations manage the uncertainty that is inseparable from economic activity. Finance covers the principles by which firms and individuals raise, allocate, and value capital. Investment examines how assets are analysed, portfolios are constructed, and market behaviour is interpreted.

Risk management addresses the identification, measurement, and mitigation of financial and operational risks, which is an increasingly central concern for banks, insurance companies, and corporate treasuries alike.

At Glasgow Caledonian University, this four-year full-time programme develops in-demand skills and expertise across finance and financial services. You will study how finance affects local and global economies, and how financial decisions impact every aspect of commercial and social life. The programme covers financial theory, investment analysis, portfolio management, derivatives, risk modelling, corporate finance, and the regulatory environment within which financial institutions operate.

You will develop strong quantitative skills alongside the conceptual understanding needed to apply them in real financial contexts, and you will engage with current debates in the sector, from sustainable finance and ESG considerations to the implications of financial innovation.

The typical entry tariff is 168 UCAS points, and the degree is studied full time over four years.

Graduates from finance, investment, and risk programmes go on to careers in banking, investment management, insurance, risk consultancy, corporate treasury, financial analysis, and financial technology. Many pursue professional qualifications from bodies such as the CFA Institute, the Chartered Insurance Institute, or the Institute of Risk Management.
