Geography

Geography is a discipline that sits at the junction of the natural and social sciences, concerned with the relationships between people and the physical environments they inhabit. It asks how landscapes are formed, how climate systems work, how cities and economies are organised, and how environmental change interacts with social, political, and economic processes. Geography's breadth is one of its great strengths: you will develop the ability to think across disciplinary boundaries, using both quantitative and qualitative methods to address questions that are simultaneously scientific and humanistic.

At the University of Hull, this three-year full-time degree invites you to discover how people shape the planet and how the planet shapes us. The programme includes field trips that take you into real environments where geographical processes can be observed and studied directly, including international destinations that extend your experience beyond the classroom and laboratory. You will engage with physical geography topics such as geomorphology, climatology, and environmental change alongside human geography themes including urban development, economic geography, migration, and social inequality.

You will develop skills in GIS and spatial data analysis, fieldwork, research methods, written communication, and the critical thinking needed to evaluate evidence across a wide range of geographical questions.
