Geography and German is a combination that develops two very different but mutually enriching intellectual skills: the spatial and environmental thinking of geography and the linguistic and cultural competence of German. At Glasgow, this five-year programme develops both strands to honours level, giving you a rigorous grounding in geography alongside high-level German language proficiency and cultural knowledge. Geography at Glasgow covers physical and human geography, with strong research traditions in environmental science, urban studies, and spatial analysis. The German strand engages with language from the eighteenth century to the contemporary, covering literature, culture, history, and current affairs.

A sandwich year in industry and a work placement are built in, giving you professional experience in relevant settings, whether in a geography-related profession or in a German-speaking environment.
