About this course

Geology is the science of the Earth, concerned with understanding the rocks, minerals, and processes that have shaped the planet over billions of years. At the University of Keele, this four-year full-time programme includes a foundation year that provides additional scientific preparation for students working towards degree-level geology. The foundation year builds the mathematical, chemical, and physical foundations needed to engage fully with the main degree content. You will then move through core geological topics including mineralogy and petrology, structural geology, stratigraphy, palaeontology, geochemistry, and geophysics, developing both theoretical understanding and the practical field and laboratory skills that geologists use every day.
