Health and social care is one of the most significant areas of public service and employment in the UK, encompassing hospitals, community health services, residential and home care, mental health services, and the many organisations that support vulnerable people across all stages of life. As the sector faces increasing complexity driven by demographic change, rising long-term conditions, and the integration of health and social care services, the demand for well-educated professionals who can work effectively across these settings and contribute to meaningful change has grown considerably.

At Keele University, this three-year full-time BSc in Health and Social Care equips you with the knowledge, professional skills, and practical experience needed to support people with care and support needs, collaborate with families, and create positive societal impact. You will develop understanding of how health and social care systems are organised, what drives effective and compassionate care, and how policy, legislation, and organisational dynamics shape the experiences of both workers and those they support. The programme includes a sandwich year and work placement, giving you substantial professional experience in health and social care settings before you complete your degree.

Graduates from health and social care programmes are well placed for careers across the NHS, local authority social care, the voluntary sector, and private health and care organisations.
