Health and Social Care

Health and social care is one of the largest and most socially important sectors in the UK, employing millions of people across the NHS, local authorities, and the charitable and private sectors. Understanding it well requires engaging with several overlapping domains: the policy frameworks that shape how care is organised and funded, the social inequalities that determine who needs care and why, the psychological and sociological dimensions of wellbeing, and the practical realities of delivering services to people whose needs are often complex and multiple. This degree at the University of Bedfordshire addresses all of these dimensions, with a foundation year available for students who need additional preparation before the main course begins.

Across four years you will explore how health and social care systems are structured and how they have changed over time in response to demographic shifts, policy priorities, and resource pressures.
