At Wrexham University this two-year full-time programme includes a foundation year, which provides the essential academic and conceptual grounding for degree-level study in health, mental health, and wellbeing. The foundation year develops your understanding of key concepts in the field and builds the skills needed for studying in higher education, ensuring you are well prepared for the demands of degree-level work. Across the programme you will explore health inequalities, mental health and illness, social determinants of health, the role of policy in shaping service delivery, and the principles of person-centred support in health and social care contexts.

Graduates from health and social wellbeing programmes pursue careers across the health and social care sector, including roles in health promotion, community support, mental health services, public health bodies, local authorities, and the voluntary and charity sector. The programme provides a foundation for further professional training in areas such as nursing, social work, counselling, occupational therapy, or public health, as well as for postgraduate study in health studies, social policy, or psychology. Many graduates also move into roles in health education, research support, and service coordination, where a broad understanding of what affects wellbeing is directly applicable.
