About this course

BA History allows you to explore challenging questions about the impact of political, social and cultural change on individuals, social groups and regions. BA History is a three-year undergraduate degree, with optional placement or study abroad opportunities to extend your studies. This degree at Essex allows you to explore the past across a wide range of periods, regions and themes.

You will examine political change, social movements, cultural developments and global events while building strong analytical, research and communication skills. History helps you understand how the world has been shaped and how past events continue to influence the present. This course combines academic depth with a flexible, research-led approach that allows you to follow your interests across different historical periods and regions.

You will explore topics such as revolution and empire, war and conflict, identity and culture, and global history in a connected world.
