About this course

Human neuroscience is the scientific study of the brain and nervous system as the biological basis of human behaviour, perception, cognition, emotion, and experience. It sits at the intersection of biology, psychology, medicine, and philosophy, asking how the physical structure and activity of the brain give rise to the rich inner life of human beings. Understanding the brain at this level matters enormously for medicine, where neurological and psychiatric disorders represent some of the most challenging and least well-understood conditions people face, and for science more broadly, where the mechanisms of memory, attention, language, and consciousness remain among the deepest open questions.

At University College London, this three-year full-time programme provides a rigorous and research-led education in the science of the human brain. UCL is one of the world's foremost centres for neuroscience research, and students study in an environment where some of the most significant work on human brain function is being conducted. You will explore neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, systems neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, developmental neuroscience, and the neuroscience of clinical conditions, developing both theoretical understanding and practical skills in experimental methods, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.
