About this course

International business management is concerned with how organisations compete and collaborate across national borders. It examines how firms enter foreign markets, how multinational corporations manage their operations across different legal, cultural, and economic environments, and how leaders navigate the complexity of global business relationships. As supply chains, customer bases, and competitive landscapes have become increasingly international, the ability to understand and operate in a global context has moved from a specialist skill to a core management competency.

At Cumbria this three-year full-time programme is designed to empower you with the skills and perspectives needed for effective leadership in diverse industries across the world. You will engage with topics including digital transformation, sustainability, and ethical leadership, developing a broad and contemporary foundation in the forces shaping business practice today and in the coming years. The programme takes a hands-on approach to learning, developing digital and employability skills alongside theoretical understanding, and building the practical competence that graduates need to contribute meaningfully from the start of their careers.

You will study how international businesses are managed, how strategy is developed for global markets, how cross-cultural teams are led effectively, and how the ethical and sustainability dimensions of international business are navigated. These are not merely abstract topics; they are the practical challenges facing managers in international organisations every day.

Graduates move into careers in international trade, management consultancy, marketing, logistics and supply chain management, banking and financial services, human resources, and roles with multinational organisations across a wide range of industries. Postgraduate study in international business, management, or MBA programmes is a route pursued by those who wish to develop further expertise or move into senior roles.

This is the perfect place to study this subject. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. On the city β€” local cost…
