About this course

International business examines how commerce operates across national borders, exploring the forces, from trade policy and cultural difference to financial systems and global supply chains, that shape the decisions firms make when they operate internationally. It is a discipline that combines business fundamentals with a genuinely global perspective, preparing students to work in organisations that operate across multiple markets and regulatory environments. The ability to understand business strategy, finance and operations while holding an awareness of cultural and political context is increasingly essential in a connected world.

At Roehampton University, this programme includes a foundation year, a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you substantial structured experience to complement your academic studies. The course is designed around intensive case-based learning and live projects, throwing you into real business challenges from early in your studies. This approach builds the analytical confidence and practical awareness that employers value, and it means that by the time you complete the programme you will have engaged with the kinds of problems that international businesses actually face, not just theoretical models of how they should behave.

The foundation year ensures you can enter the degree with confidence regardless of your prior background.

Graduates from international business programmes go on to work in management roles across a wide range of industries, including retail, financial services, logistics, technology, manufacturing and professional services. International consultancy, trade finance, supply chain management, marketing and business development are all areas where the combination of strategic thinking and international awareness that the degree develops is highly valued. Many graduates begin in graduate training schemes with multinational companies or in roles that require them to work across regional offices and international partners.

Some go on to postgraduate study in international business, management or related fields, and a number pursue professional qualifications in finance or management.

I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the teaching staff are genuinely world-class and accessible. If I'm honest, the timetable has some awkward 9am / Friday afternoon slots. On the city β€” the city is a brillia…

This is the perfect place to study this subject. The best part: small-group tutorials really push your thinking. If I'm honest, accommodation allocation was stressful in the first year. On the city β€” good transport links make it easy to vis…
