About this course

International Business with French is a degree that prepares you for leadership and management in an increasingly globalised economy while simultaneously developing high-level French language competence. International business draws on economics, strategy, marketing, finance and organisational behaviour to understand how firms operate across borders, navigate different regulatory environments and manage the cultural and political complexities of global markets. Adding French gives you direct linguistic and cultural access to a global community of French-speaking societies across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and beyond, as well as to one of the world's major economies and diplomatic powers.

At the University of Aberdeen this five-year full-time MBus degree provides a broad and rigorous understanding of international business alongside sustained development of French to a high level. You will develop your knowledge of international business operations alongside the economic, political and social contexts in which they occur, building the leadership capabilities and cross-cultural intelligence needed to contribute to internationally active organisations. The programme includes a year abroad, giving you the opportunity to develop your French language skills and international business understanding in an immersive professional or academic context.

Graduates from International Business with French degrees are well positioned for careers in multinational companies, international financial institutions, trade policy organisations, international development agencies, the diplomatic service and professional services firms with international operations. The combination of business acumen, French fluency and cross-cultural understanding makes graduates attractive in any context where commercial activity intersects with the French-speaking world. Postgraduate study in international business, management, finance or French studies is a natural continuation for those wishing to develop their expertise further.
