About this course

International business equips you for the management challenges of organisations operating across national borders, where differences in culture, regulation, economics, and consumer behaviour must be understood and navigated. The increasing globalisation of business means that managers with an international perspective are in high demand, and this course prepares you for work in national, international, and multinational companies with involvement and experiences in international trade and global business competition.

At York St John University, this four-year full-time programme includes both an integrated foundation year and a placement year, giving you a thorough academic preparation alongside direct professional experience in an international business context. A year abroad is also built into the programme, ensuring you encounter different business environments and cultural contexts first-hand. You will study the core areas of business management, including marketing, finance, strategy, and operations, with a consistent international lens applied throughout, examining how business principles translate across different national and cultural environments.

Entry is flexible.

International business graduates work in management roles across a wide range of industries, in international trade and logistics, in financial services, in consultancy, and in public sector roles that require commercial and cross-cultural understanding. Many also pursue postgraduate study in business, management, or international relations. The combination of professional placement experience, year abroad, and broad academic grounding makes graduates competitive in a global job market.
