About this course

International business is about understanding commerce and management in a context that crosses borders, cultures, and legal systems. Organisations that operate globally face a different set of challenges from those that work in a single market: they must navigate diverse regulatory environments, manage culturally varied teams and relationships, and adapt their strategies to conditions that vary enormously from one country to the next. A degree in international business prepares you to think and work effectively across those boundaries.

At Nottingham Trent's Nottingham Business School this four-year programme combines an education in international business with the development of Spanish language skills, offered as a specialist dual award course. You will study the core disciplines of business, including strategy, marketing, finance, and management, with a sustained focus on their international dimensions. Topics such as global trade, cross-cultural management, international marketing, and the regulatory frameworks governing international commerce give your business education a genuinely global orientation.

Spanish is studied alongside the business content, developing your language ability progressively across the programme and giving you access to the markets and business cultures of Spain and Latin America.

The combination of business knowledge and Spanish language proficiency is a genuinely marketable one: Spanish is the world's second most widely spoken native language, and the economies of Spain and Latin America represent significant opportunities for internationally oriented graduates. You will develop analytical, communicative, and strategic thinking skills that employers in internationally operating organisations value highly.

Graduates from International Business with Spanish pursue careers in multinational companies, international trade, export management, financial services, consultancy, and public sector organisations with international portfolios. The language specialism opens particular opportunities in Spain, Latin America, and any organisation doing business in Spanish-speaking markets. Postgraduate study in international business, management, or a related field is a natural continuation for those who wish to develop further.
