At Swansea University, this three-year full-time degree asks how states cope with the changing nature of conflicts and new threats to security, how peaceful relations between peoples and states can be maintained and strengthened, and what role international institutions play alongside state actors in a complex and interconnected world. These are the defining questions of contemporary international relations, and the modern language strand gives you the tools to engage with them from perspectives beyond those available in English alone. You will study international relations theory and contemporary global issues alongside language study that develops your proficiency and cultural understanding.
