About this course

The BA Islamic Studies with Arabic programme draws on classical and contemporary approaches and perspectives to provide students with an objective, in-depth and critical understanding of Islam and Muslims. The programme moves beyond the Islamic sciences (ulum)and employs a multidisciplinary approach that includes theology, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and history in studying Islam. This approach engenders objectivity and critical thinking and encourages philosophical thought, interpretation and analysis.

Students engage with contemporary issues and challenges facing Muslim communities in a multicultural and multi-faith society.
