Law provides the framework through which economic and social life is organised, disputes are resolved, and the relationship between the state and the individual is defined. It is a discipline that rewards close analytical reading, precision in argument, and the ability to apply abstract principles to messy real-world situations. At Warwick Law School, the approach to legal study has long been distinguished by its emphasis on examining legal rules in their wider context, asking not just what the law says but how it works in practice and what its social, political and economic effects actually are.

This three-year qualifying law degree is delivered at full time and covers the core foundations of the English legal system, including contract, tort, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, and equity and trusts. Beyond the foundations, you will engage with a broader range of legal subjects and with the social science perspectives that Warwick brings to bear on legal analysis. A year abroad is available, giving you the opportunity to study law in another jurisdiction and develop a comparative perspective on legal systems.

Warwick's reputation and its strong alumni network in the legal profession mean that students have good access to opportunities in the UK's leading law firms and barristers' chambers, as well as in the civil service, international organisations, and business.

Graduates who wish to enter legal practice will need to complete further professional training, but the LLB provides the qualifying academic foundation for that route. Many graduates also enter careers in policy, finance, management, journalism, and the public sector, where legal reasoning and analytical skills are highly valued. Postgraduate study in law, public policy, or international relations is also a common next step.
