Law for solicitors' practice takes the academic foundation of a qualifying law degree and integrates it with sustained attention to the realities of how legal work is actually done. Legal practice is changing rapidly, shaped by technology, shifts in the profession's structure, evolving client expectations, and ongoing questions about access to justice. This four-year full-time LLB at the University of Kent is designed with that changing landscape in mind, developing your intellectual and transferable skills alongside a historical and contemporary understanding of the legal profession itself.

You will cover the foundational areas of English law, including contract, tort, criminal law, constitutional and administrative law, land law, and equity, while also engaging critically with questions about what the legal profession is for, how it is organised, and what professional identity and ethics mean in practice. The programme examines the intersections of law with technology, democracy, citizenship, and finance, preparing you not just to know legal doctrine but to understand the broader contexts in which lawyers operate. A typical entry tariff of 120 UCAS points reflects a broadly accessible admissions standard. Graduates who intend to qualify as solicitors will proceed to the Solicitors Qualifying Examination, using the knowledge and skills built during the degree as their foundation. Others move into careers in business, compliance, public administration, policy, journalism, and the third sector, where the analytical and communicative skills a law degree develops are consistently valued.
