Law in Scotland has its own distinctive character, shaped by a legal tradition that draws on both Scots private law, with its roots in Roman and continental European jurisprudence, and the common law elements that the Scottish and English systems share. This four-year full-time programme includes a year abroad, which deepens the international dimension of your legal education and allows you to study within a different legal tradition. You will cover the foundational areas of Scots law alongside public law, European law, and international dimensions, and you will develop the analytical skills in reading statutes and cases, constructing arguments, and evaluating legal reasoning that are central to legal practice everywhere.
