Law is a discipline concerned with the rules and principles that govern how members of society relate to one another and to the state, and with how those rules are interpreted, applied, and enforced. It is a rigorous intellectual training that demands close reading, precise reasoning, the ability to identify and apply legal rules to factual situations, and the capacity to construct and evaluate arguments under scrutiny. A qualifying law degree provides the foundation for a wide range of legal and non-legal careers and is the starting point for those who want to practise as solicitors or barristers.

At the University of Buckingham this three-year full-time LLB with integrated foundation provides students who would benefit from additional preparation with a first year that introduces the foundations of legal study before moving into the specialist core subjects in years two and three. The integrated foundation year covers legal skills, legal systems, and the conceptual grounding needed to approach the more demanding substantive law content with confidence. Across all three years you will study the core areas of English law required for a qualifying degree, including contract, tort, criminal, constitutional, and administrative law, as well as subjects in equity and property.

The typical entry tariff of 120 points reflects the standard expected on entry to the programme.

You will develop the legal reasoning, research skills, and written communication capabilities that a law degree requires, alongside the broader analytical thinking that makes law graduates valuable in many professional contexts.

Graduates are eligible to proceed to the professional training stages required to qualify as a solicitor or barrister in England and Wales. Many also go on to careers in business, the civil service, compliance, human resources, and policy. Postgraduate study in law or a specialist legal field is also a well-established route.
