Law with International Relations

Law with international relations connects two disciplines that address power, governance, and the regulation of behaviour at different scales: law operates within national and supranational legal systems, establishing the rules that bind individuals, organisations, and states; international relations examines how those states and other actors interact in a world without a single governing authority. The overlap between them is substantial, particularly in areas such as international law, human rights, diplomatic relations, and the legal regulation of global trade and conflict. This three-year full-time degree at the University of Sussex includes a foundation year entry route, a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and embedded work placement experience.

You will cover the core areas of English law alongside international relations theory and empirical study, developing both the doctrinal legal knowledge needed to qualify as a lawyer and the analytical tools to understand global political dynamics.
