Law with International Study

Law is both one of the most intellectually rigorous of the academic disciplines and one with the most direct practical consequence in the world. It trains you to read, interpret, and apply complex rules, to construct and evaluate legal arguments, to understand the institutional structures through which justice is delivered, and to engage critically with the values and purposes that law is meant to serve. Studying law with an international dimension adds a further perspective, examining how legal systems interact across national borders and how international law governs relationships between states, corporations, and individuals in an increasingly interconnected world.

At the University of Manchester, this four-year full-time programme is offered as Law with International Study, combining a rigorous Manchester law degree with a period of study in a different country and a work placement. Manchester Law School is one of the UK's leading law schools, with research strengths across commercial law, public law, criminal law, human rights, and international law. You will study the foundation areas of English law including contract, tort, criminal law, land law, equity, and public law, alongside international and comparative legal content and specialist options that allow you to develop expertise in areas of law that interest you.

Graduates from Manchester Law go on to careers as solicitors and barristers in England and Wales, and in many other legal and non-legal roles including business, finance, the civil service, international organisations, journalism, and consultancy. Many pursue the Solicitors Qualifying Examination or Bar Training Course after their degree to qualify as legal professionals. Some go on to postgraduate study in law, international law, or legal studies.
