About this course

Marketing and management is a combination that develops two of the most central commercial competencies: the ability to understand markets and reach customers effectively, and the ability to lead and coordinate the people and processes through which an organisation delivers its strategy. At the University of Hull, this four-year full-time programme with a placement year is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, providing alignment with recognised professional standards and a foundation for subsequent CIM qualification. Hull's business school holds dual AMBA and AACSB accreditations, placing it in the top tier of global business education.

You will study marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, brand management, digital marketing, market research and integrated communications alongside the core management content of strategy, human resources, operations, finance and leadership. The Chartered Institute of Marketing accreditation means the marketing content is developed in close alignment with what the profession expects of its members, and the management dimension gives you the broader commercial competence to move into leadership roles rather than remaining confined to specialist marketing functions. The placement year gives you a year of professional experience in a marketing or management role.

A typical entry tariff of around 104 points is expected.

Graduates pursue careers in brand management, digital marketing, marketing analytics, product management, account management, marketing communications and general commercial management roles. The CIM accreditation provides a clear pathway to professional marketing qualifications, and the management training opens additional doors to roles in operations, general management and business development. Many graduates also proceed to postgraduate study in marketing, management or data analytics, while others move directly into industry roles where their CIM foundation and placement experience give them a competitive advantage from the start.
