About this course

Marketing is the discipline concerned with understanding customer needs, building and communicating the value of products and services, and developing the strategies that connect organisations with the audiences they want to reach. In a world shaped by digital platforms, data-driven decision-making, and rapidly changing consumer behaviour, marketing has become one of the most analytically demanding and strategically important functions in any organisation. A degree in marketing develops both the creative and the analytical skills that effective marketing requires, and it engages with the full range of channels and approaches through which modern organisations reach their audiences.

At the University of Leeds, this three-year full-time degree is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, which is the professional body that sets standards for marketing practice in the UK. CIM accreditation signals that the programme meets professional standards and provides a pathway towards chartered marketer status, which is a significant asset in the graduate labour market. A sandwich year, year abroad, and work placements are built into the programme, giving you the opportunity to develop your professional skills and international perspective alongside your academic knowledge.

You will study consumer behaviour, digital marketing, marketing strategy, brand management, market research, and integrated communications, developing both the conceptual framework and the practical tools that contemporary marketing practice demands.

Graduates go on to careers in marketing management, digital marketing, brand management, market research, communications, PR, and advertising, across consumer goods, technology, media, retail, financial services, and many other sectors. Many pursue CIM qualifications alongside or after their degree, and postgraduate study in marketing, communications, or business administration is another route. The combination of analytical rigour and creative communication skills the degree develops is valued across virtually every sector of the economy.

Exceeded expectations
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, admin can be slow to respond, especially at start of term. On the city β€” local c…

A great decision
I was sceptical before starting β€” now I'd recommend it to anyone. The best part: the accounting and finance streams are taught by practitioners, not just academics. If I'm honest, some seminar groups were too big for meaningful discussion. …
