About this course

Mathematical modelling is the art and science of using mathematics to represent, analyse, and predict the behaviour of real systems. From the spread of infectious diseases and the flow of fluids to the dynamics of financial markets and the mechanics of engineering structures, mathematical models are central to how we understand and make decisions about the world around us. The discipline sits at the intersection of pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics, and it develops a set of quantitative and analytical skills that are among the most broadly applicable in higher education.

At Aberystwyth University, this three-year full-time degree teaches you how to use mathematical theory to develop predictive models in the physical and life sciences and in engineering.
