About this course

Mathematics is the language of precision, and the most fundamental of the sciences. It is the study of structure, pattern, quantity, space, and change, pursued through logical reasoning and rigorous proof, and its methods and results underpin virtually every quantitative discipline, from physics and engineering to economics and computer science. Mathematics develops a particular kind of thinking, one that is abstract, exacting, and creative, and this makes mathematicians unusually versatile and sought after in a wide range of professional contexts.

At Brunel this five-year full-time integrated master's programme begins with a foundation year that provides additional preparation for students who need it before progressing to the main degree, and extends to master's level in the final year. You will study the core mathematical disciplines, including calculus, algebra, analysis, probability, and statistics, while also engaging with applied areas such as numerical methods, mathematical modelling, and differential equations. Completing the integrated master's rather than stopping at bachelor's level gives you a competitive edge when you apply for graduate roles without the need to go through a separate application process for a taught master's programme.
