From mathematical concepts to specialist topics in group theory, hydrodynamic stability theory, and perturbation methods, you’ll deepen your learning, gaining the advanced practical, technical, research and employability skills to pursue PhD study or gain a competitive edge in the graduate employment market. Mathematics lies at the heart of numerous advancements in technology, science, and engineering, enabling us to understand and drive innovations that shape the future—from artificial intelligence to climate science. Mathematics with Integrated Master’s at Keele offers a broad coverage of the key disciplines; pure mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics.

Pure mathematics focuses on mathematical proof, logical argument and abstraction, applied mathematics is concerned with methods and their application to modelling real-world problems, and statistics involves mathematical modelling of uncertainty and the analysis of data. During your first year, you will build a strong foundation in mathematical thinking, exploring sets, functions and proofs, calculus, mathematical methods, algebra and differential equations. To deepen your learning, you will apply your knowledge to analyse real data sets, using the statistical software R.
