About this course

Mathematics with data science is a degree that combines the rigour and depth of a mathematics education with the practical skills for working with large and complex datasets. Data science has emerged as one of the most consequential professional fields of the early twenty-first century, as organisations of every kind seek to understand and exploit the information available to them. Grounding that practical work in a strong mathematical foundation gives you the conceptual understanding to do it well rather than just mechanically, and to develop and evaluate new methods rather than simply applying existing ones.

At Nottingham Trent University, this three-year full-time programme develops your mathematical knowledge across areas including statistics, probability, linear algebra, calculus and discrete mathematics, alongside the data science skills of programming, machine learning, data visualisation, database management and the principles of statistical inference and modelling.
