About this course

Mathematics with Statistics is a degree that develops two of the most powerful and versatile quantitative disciplines available. Mathematics provides the tools for abstract reasoning, modelling and problem-solving, from pure mathematical theory to the applied frameworks used in physics, economics, engineering and computing. Statistics equips you to make sense of data, account for uncertainty and draw reliable conclusions in contexts ranging from medical trials to financial markets.

At the University of Plymouth this three-year full-time degree includes a foundation year, giving you additional time to develop the mathematical skills and academic confidence you need before entering the main programme. The course also includes a sandwich year, giving you the opportunity to spend time in an industry placement before your final year, with the placement module designed to help you explore opportunities and develop the skills to secure a position. A year abroad option is available, along with work placements embedded in the programme, giving you significant flexibility in how you build your experience alongside your studies.
