University of Chester's four-year full-time Media and Television Production (including a Foundation Year) programme is designed for students who want thorough preparation for careers in screen-based media. The foundation year prepares you for degree-level study, building the academic and creative skills you will need before you move into the main programme, which makes the degree accessible to a broader range of students including those who may not have studied media or creative subjects formally before. From the foundation year you will move through the production skills curriculum, developing competence with cameras, editing software, sound recording, and the craft of storytelling through film and television forms.

You will also engage with media theory, studying how television has evolved, how audiences are understood and addressed, and how the shift to streaming and digital distribution is reshaping the industry.
