About this course

Medical science is the study of the biological and biochemical processes that underpin human health and disease. It occupies the territory between the basic life sciences and clinical medicine, developing your understanding of how the body works at molecular and cellular levels and how diseases arise, progress, and are diagnosed and treated. The discipline draws on biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology, and pathology, and it equips you to understand the scientific basis of healthcare and medical research in a way that prepares you for roles at the interface of science and clinical practice.

At Middlesex University, this three-year full-time BSc includes a foundation year for students who need to build their scientific preparation before entering the main degree.
