Midwifery with Leadership

At the University of Leicester, this four-year full-time degree goes one step further than a standard midwifery qualification by integrating clinical training with dedicated study in clinical and professional leadership. Alongside gaining core midwifery skills and extensive practice experience, you will develop an understanding of what it takes to be a leader within the field of maternity and healthcare. You will study the physiology of pregnancy and birth, neonatal care, pharmacology, public health, and the evidence base underpinning midwifery practice, while leadership modules develop your ability to manage teams, lead service improvement, and advocate for high-quality maternity care.

Graduates register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as qualified midwives and are ready to practise in NHS trusts, birth centres, and community maternity services.
