About this course

Network engineering is the technical discipline concerned with the design, implementation and management of the communication systems that connect computers, devices and services. From local area networks in office buildings to the global infrastructure of the internet, from mobile networks to cloud architectures, network engineers are responsible for keeping the digital world connected, performant and secure. It is a discipline that combines theoretical understanding of how networks function with the practical technical skills to build and maintain them.

The Open University offers this network engineering programme in a part-time and distance learning format, which makes it accessible to students who cannot attend a residential university and who want to develop serious technical qualifications while managing other commitments.
