Adult nursing is the healthcare profession dedicated to the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for adults with acute illness, chronic conditions, disability, and the needs that arise through ageing. Adult nurses work across a remarkable range of clinical settings and patient groups, from emergency departments and intensive care units to community teams, care homes and outpatient clinics. The role requires clinical knowledge, technical competence, communicative skill and the professional judgement to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

At Swansea University, the three-year full-time degree is built around academic study and clinical placements, ensuring that your theoretical learning is constantly connected to real clinical experience. You will study anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, clinical assessment, nursing theory, evidence-based practice and the legal and ethical frameworks that govern nursing, developing the knowledge and clinical capability required for professional registration.
