Mental health nursing is a specialist branch of the nursing profession dedicated to supporting people of all ages and backgrounds experiencing mental health difficulties, from anxiety and depression through to psychosis, personality disorders, eating disorders, and the mental health dimensions of physical illness. At Swansea University, this three-year full-time degree prepares you for registration as a mental health nurse. You will develop the knowledge and clinical competencies required to work effectively with people experiencing mental health difficulties, studying the psychological, social, and biological dimensions of mental health alongside the therapeutic approaches and professional values that underpin good nursing practice. Substantial clinical placements are woven through the programme, giving you hands-on experience in a range of mental health settings under the supervision of qualified practitioners.
