About this course

Pharmaceutical science sits at the heart of how medicines are discovered, developed, and brought to patients. The programme includes a sandwich year and a work placement, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills in a professional pharmaceutical or scientific environment. This direct industry experience is valuable in a sector where the transition from academic science to professional practice requires familiarity with industrial workflows, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.

Graduates from pharmaceutical science degrees move into roles in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, including research and development, analytical chemistry, formulation science, clinical research, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and medical writing. Others pursue careers in NHS pharmacy, clinical research organisations, or government agencies.
