Philosophy, Politics and Economics, known as PPE, is one of the most demanding and respected undergraduate degrees in the world, and for good reason. It brings together three disciplines that are essential to understanding how human societies organise themselves, how they should be organised, and what the consequences of different arrangements are. Philosophy develops the capacity for rigorous argumentation and ethical reasoning.

Politics examines institutions, power, and governance. Economics analyses how resources are allocated and how incentives shape behaviour. Together they provide a framework for grappling with the most consequential questions of public life.

At the University of Warwick, PPE is offered at a high level, and this four-year programme includes a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and a work placement, giving you substantial professional and international experience alongside an intellectually challenging curriculum. You will engage with formal economic theory and quantitative methods, with political science covering both comparative politics and international relations, and with philosophy ranging from logic and epistemology to moral and political theory. The programme explicitly frames itself around pressing global problems, including climate change, migration, poverty, and international justice, recognising that these challenges require the combined insights of all three disciplines.

The skills that PPE develops, which include rigorous analytical thinking, the ability to evaluate complex evidence, and the capacity to construct and critique arguments, are valued across virtually every sector of professional life.
