At Hartpury University you will study physical education and school sport over three years of full-time study, in an environment that offers purpose-built outdoor learning facilities and a sports academy providing excellent practical resources for your training. The programme is strengthened by partnerships with local schools, sports clubs and national bodies, giving you experience of supporting sporting events and developing your skills in real-world educational and sport development contexts. You will study sport science, pedagogy, curriculum planning, assessment and the professional responsibilities of a PE teacher, developing both subject knowledge and the teaching ability needed for schools.

Graduates of PE and school sport programmes often proceed to initial teacher education programmes to gain qualified teacher status, using their subject knowledge foundation as the basis for classroom practice. Others work in sports development, coaching, community sport organisations, health promotion, sports administration and the wider physical activity and health sector.
