About this course

Physical geography and mathematics at Aberystwyth University is a combination that connects two disciplines sharing a deep reliance on quantitative reasoning and empirical inquiry. Physical geography examines the processes that shape the Earth's surface, including geomorphology, climatology, hydrology, glaciology, and soil science, and asks how those processes interact to produce the landscapes and environmental systems we inhabit. Mathematics provides the formal tools, from calculus and statistics through to differential equations and numerical modelling, that allow geographers to describe, analyse, and predict those processes rigorously.
