About this course

Physics is the most fundamental of the natural sciences, seeking to understand the basic principles that govern the behaviour of matter, energy, space, and time. From quantum mechanics and particle physics to relativity, thermodynamics, and optics, the discipline develops both the conceptual understanding and the mathematical tools needed to describe the physical world with precision. Physicists are trained to think rigorously about complex problems, to design experiments, to build and test models, and to work with data in ways that develop genuine intellectual versatility.

At the University of Lincoln, you will study physics over three years full-time, covering the core areas of the discipline and developing both theoretical and practical skills. The programme includes a sandwich year, giving you the opportunity to spend a year working in an industrial, research, or science-related organisation before your final year, and work placement provision is built into the course.
