About this course

Physics with artificial intelligence is a degree that reflects the profound way machine learning and computational methods are reshaping scientific research. Physics is the discipline concerned with the fundamental laws governing matter, energy, space and time, and it has always been a field of deep mathematical and computational sophistication. At Southampton this four-year full-time programme takes you through the core content of an MPhys degree, covering classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, special relativity and advanced mathematical methods. The AI strand introduces you to machine learning, neural networks, probabilistic modelling, data analysis and the computational tools that modern research physicists use.
