About this course

Physics with Quantum Computing is a degree that combines the foundational science of the physical world with one of the most rapidly developing fields in contemporary technology. Physics provides the conceptual and mathematical framework for understanding matter, energy, and the laws that govern their behaviour across every scale from subatomic particles to cosmological structures. Quantum computing draws on the principles of quantum mechanics, in particular superposition and entanglement, to perform certain categories of computation far beyond the reach of classical computers, with potential applications in cryptography, materials science, drug discovery, and optimisation.

At the University of Surrey, this three-year, full-time degree covers the full spectrum of quantum technologies, from lasers and photonics to quantum information, quantum physics, and quantum computing itself.
