Politics and religion are disciplines that have shaped each other throughout human history. Political power has been legitimated and challenged through religious authority; religious communities have organised, governed, and sometimes fought over political questions; and the relationship between secular governance and religious life remains one of the defining tensions of contemporary societies across the world. Studying them together gives you the tools to understand that relationship with real depth.

At Liverpool Hope University, this three-year full-time degree places you in a city whose two iconic cathedrals, oldest mosque in England, and history of faith and cultural diversity make the subject unusually immediate. You will explore religious traditions including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, alongside contemporary spiritual identities that go beyond traditional faiths. The politics component examines political systems, ideologies, and the forces that shape governance and power, including the role of religion in public and political life.

The programme includes a sandwich year, a year abroad option, and work placements, all of which add professional and international dimensions to your studies. The typical entry tariff is 88 UCAS points.
